Dev Store

A development store is a free Shopify account that allows developers to test themes and apps, or set up accounts for clients. While it includes features available on the Advanced Shopify plan, it has limitations: you can't process real transactions (only test orders), can't transfer ownership, and can't transition to a paid plan.

You can test orders using either the Bogus Test gateway or by activating test mode for your payment provider. Real transactions through active payment providers are not allowed in development stores.

Dev Store collects personal information including name, email address, username, and payment details (processed via third-party providers). Optional profile details like job role and developer expertise may also be collected. Usage data such as device information, activity logs, and diagnostic data is also gathered.

Dev Store retains user information only as long as necessary to fulfill the purposes stated in the privacy policy, comply with legal obligations, or resolve disputes. Users may request account deletion at any time.

Dev Store implements industry-standard security measures including encryption for data in transit (SSL/TLS) and at rest, access controls restricted to authorized personnel, and regular security audits to identify and address vulnerabilities.
